Arne Slot has confirmed Darwin Nunez’s imminent departure but refused to comment on Alexander Isak amid links with Liverpool.
Reports claim the Reds have struck a deal for an initial £46millions fee plus add-ons with Al-Hilal for the Uruguayan international.
Nunez became the Saudi Pro League outfit’s ‘priority’ target after they missed out on Victor Osimhen, who made his loan move to Galatasaray permanent.
Speaking in the pre-Crystal Palace press conference on Friday morning, Slot did confirm the latest on Nunez’s future and hinted at an announcement being made early next week.
He said: “At this moment in time, Darwin [Nunez] might indeed leave, but things are not signed yet, so you need to wait maybe a few days before that is completely done.
“But there is indeed a chance he is going to leave.”
Nunez’s likely exit will leave Liverpool short of numbers in attack.
After the sale of Luis Diaz to Bayern Munich, as things stand, Mohamed Salah, Hugo Ekitike, Cody Gakpo and Federico Chiesa are the natural forward options at Slot’s disposal.

Summer signing Florian Wirtz can operate across the forward line, while youngster Rio Ngumoha has caught the eye in pre-season as a left-winger.
That said, the Reds have been tipped to test Newcastle’s resolve once more for Isak after seeing an opening offer of around £110m rejected last week.
Amid reports that the Magpies are holding out for closer to £150m for the Sweden international, funds raised from the Nunez deal will help Liverpool get closer to that figure.
However, Slot remain tight-lipped when asked if Isak has been lined up as a direct replacement for Nunez.
He added: “As you know from me – and I think every manager works like this – you never talk about players that are not yours.
“I can talk to you about Hugo [Ekitike], who we signed recently and has done really well until now.
I and we are very happy with the squad we are having and there is every reason to be happy about that because we won the league last season.
“OK, players left, but we have brought players in as well and youngsters are doing good.”
