Real Madrid have reportedly sent a contract offer to Dean Huijsen in an attempt to strike an agreement with the Bournemouth defender ahead of Liverpool and other Premier League sides.

The 20-year-old is expected to leave the Cherries this summer after an impressive debut season at the Vitality Stadium since signing from Juventus in July.

The Spain international has a £50m release clause in his contract with the Cherries and is said to have attracted interest from Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Real Madrid.

But Fabrizio Romano claims Madrid have moved into pole position in the race to sign Huijsen as they sent a contract offer to the defender on Wednesday.

Romano adds that despite offers to stay in the Premier League, a move to the Spanish capital remains the former AS Roma and Juventus defender's priority this summer.

Last month, Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola hailed Huijsen's mentality and speculation over a potential move away from the club hasn't fazed the young defender.

"From what I see every day, training and playing and I don't see it (speculation) affecting him at all," said Iraola.

"I see him in the same mood that he normally is, he is training well.

He is playing well also and I think, even being young, it's not something strange for him.

"He's coming from big teams (Juventus and Roma) even if they were not in the first team, so from teams, probably these things are quite natural and I see him quite normal."

Huijsen has featured in 30 of Bournemouth's Premier League games this season.
