The Reds boss has won almost everything during his time at Anfield but the Europa League has again eluded him.

Klopp took Liverpool to the final in his first season in charge before losing to Sevilla and his side had been favorites to go all the way again this season.

But it was a quarter-final exit this time around, despite Mohamed Salah's early penalty in Bergamo, with the damage done in the first leg at Anfield.

Barring an almighty collapse in the Premier League, Liverpool will be in the Champions League next season and that will bring a further financial boost to the Reds.

Having been eliminated in the last eight of the Europa League, Liverpool will receive around $33m (£27m/€31m) in total prize money.

With TNT Sports having rights to this season's competition, Liverpool will receive a hefty $18m (£15m/€17m), according to Football Benchmark.

Remarkably, Liverpool's total prize money is $32m (£26m/€30m) less than last season, when it exited the Champions League at the last-16 stage against Real Madrid.

The two sides had met in the final a year earlier, when Liverpool received a whopping $112m (£90m/€105m) from UEFA.

Four English sides exited Europe this week, with West Ham also being knocked out of the Europa League.

Manchester City and Arsenal also saw their campaigns come to an end, meaning fifth place in the Premier League is unlikely to secure Champions League football next season.

Tottenham currently occupies that position and is 11 points adrift of Liverpool with six games to play.

The Reds now need eight points in those matches to guarantee being back in Europe's premier competition.

Liverpool.com says: It has been a good Europa League campaign for Liverpool but one that many thought would end in the final in Dublin.
