Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino has decided that he would prefer to stay in Europe next season, sources have told Football Insider. The Reds confirmed that the 31-year-old will leave Anfield upon the expiration of his contract at the end of the season. Firmino has told his agent not to discuss his future plans until the end of the season, with his full focus on helping Liverpool in their pursuit of a top-four finish in the Premier League.
There has been interest from Italy in Firmino’s signature, with Inter and AC Milan both monitoring the situation. Firmino joined Liverpool in 2015 in a £29million move from German outfit 1899 Hoffenheim, and the Brazilian has earned a legendary status in Merseyside over the last eight seasons.
Firmino has been part of a Liverpool side that has won the Premier League, EFL Cup, Champions League and Club World Cup.
