After months of speculation and a bitter standoff that saw Isak refuse to train with Newcastle’s first team, the 25-year-old has now joined up with the Sweden national squad for the upcoming international break.

Sweden manager Jon Dahl Tomasson has confirmed that careful planning is in place regarding Isak’s involvement, stating: “We’re not going to do any stupid things with him.

We have a plan”.

But as Isak works towards full fitness, the Liverpool FC Women’s side have signed their own Swedish striker on the Women’s Super League deadline today.

The club has officially announced the signing of striker Beata Olsson from Kristianstads DFF.

The forward completed her medical at the AXA Melwood Training Centre and officially signed on, becoming the first new signing under head coach Gareth Taylor.

“It means so much to me,” she told Liverpoolfc.com after putting pen to paper.

“This is such an historic football club and the best league in the world, and I think it’s a great step for me and I’m so excited to be here.”

“I think it’s going to be really cool, and I’ve always wanted to play in England, and to play for a club like Liverpool is just a dream.”

“So, for me this means the world and I’m very excited to get started and to see what I can contribute.”

Olsson arrives with a proven goalscoring record, having netted nine times in 15 appearances this season, and brings valuable international experience as a Sweden U23 representative.

Her career began in Sweden with Enköping and Uppsala before moving to the United States, where she starred for the Florida Gators and later the Florida State Seminoles, contributing to consecutive ACC titles and national championships.

After returning to Sweden in January 2024 to join AIK, Olsson transferred to Kristianstads later that year and continued her impressive form.
