On Monday, hundreds of thousands of jubilant Liverpool FC fans will line the streets of the city to celebrate their team's triumph, and the organisers of the showpiece event are urging them to heed some crucial advice.

The victorious Reds players will travel along a 15km route around the city - starting at Allerton Maze and finishing on The Strand in the city centre.

While there are always provisional plans for such an event, the Reds' comfortable lead at the top of the league since the turn of the year has made the planning process a little easier.

Council organisers say they are expecting at least 500,000 people to flood into the city on Monday - on a day that not only sees the parade take place but also the arrival of the Queen Anne for the 185th anniversary of the iconic Cunard ship brand.

Ahead of the parade, council officials have one key piece of guidance for the many people set to come into the city.

Culture Liverpool's head of events Sue Gibson said: "We are telling everyone to please use the full 15km route.

"You don't have to come into the city centre.

There will be animation across the whole route and you will get to see the same things along the route as in the city centre."

She added: "If you live close to the route and are able to walk to see the bus, you will get a better view, you will absolutely get closer to the players outside the city centre." The events boss explained that there will be pyrotechnic moments of fireworks and confetti across the entire route stemming from a dedicated 'pyro truck' that will run in front of the players' bus.

In terms of timings, while the parade will begin at 2.30pm it is not set in stone how long it will go on for.

She added: "We think it will be closer to four hours this time, so we would expect it to finish after 6pm."

There is no stopping point with the parade and there will be a rolling road closure across the entire route apart from The Strand.

That is why we chose a route with dual carriageways the entire way.
