After initially pointing fingers at Liverpool fans for the disorder at the 2022 Champions League final in Paris, France's Justice Minister has finally issued an apology.
Gerald Darmanin, who served as France's Interior Minister – a role similar to Home Secretary – recognized his error amid the events that led to Reds supporters facing pepper spray outside the Stade de France and being targeted by local hooligans.
Darmanin claimed in a post-incident press conference that up to 40,000 fans who either had no tickets or carried fake ones were the cause of the mayhem, further alleging that Jurgen Klopp had spurred fans to head to Paris without tickets.

UEFA-appointed investigators primarily held European football's governing body accountable for the chaotic security failures.
