Liverpool are increasingly “confident” of completing the blockbuster signing of Alexander Isak by Monday night’s transfer cut-off, sources have told Football Insider.
The Merseysiders have remained in daily contact with Isak’s camp as they try to get a deal over the finish line.
Sources close to Liverpool have told Football Insider that there is confidence at the top of the club that they can reach a full agreement with Newcastle by the 7pm deadline on 1 September.
It is expected they will return with an improved second bid that will include “significant adjustments” to the add-ons suggested in the original package.

Isak is refusing to play for Newcastle and has made it clear to the club that he wishes to secure a big-money, dream transfer to Anfield, despite an initial £110million bid being rejected.
The frontman has not played a single minute for United this season and has been training away from the first team as he waits for a resolution to the saga.
Newcastle’s stance is that Isak will not be allowed to leave unless their £150m valuation is met and they sign two forward replacements.

The Magpies have had bids for Wolves Jorgen Strand Larsen and Brentford’s Yoane Wissa rejected, but talks are continuing over both deals.
Liverpool have been holding out for a deal for Isak in recent weeks despite little apparent encouragement from Newcastle that an agreement can be reached.
But he remains key to the plans for Arne Slot and recruitment chief Richard Hughes, and dialogue is continuing over a late-window deal.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are also closing in on the capture of Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace.
Football Insider exclusively revealed on Wednesday (27 August) afternoon that Guehi has an “agreement” with Palace that he can complete a move to Anfield when their Europa Conference League qualifier against Fredrikstad is completed.
Guehi has already fully agreed on personal terms with the Reds, and they are close to finalising a fee with Palace following extensive talks.
Sources say that the Premier League champions won’t increase their initial bid of £35m but will make a “minor adjustment” on the add-ons.
