Liverpool Women have tied up two signings in the space of a day.

Sam Kerr rejoins the WSL side from Bayern Munich after a successful season-long loan on Merseyside in which the midfielder made 14 starts and produced one goal.

The Scotland international had originally arrived after helping her erstwhile employers win the Frauen Bundesliga during a first campaign in Germany.

But Kerr admits that the prospect of a return to the English top flight permanently with the Reds was one which she relished as time progressed last term.

She said: “I think I knew after a couple of months that I was here that I was really loving it and if I had the opportunity to stay it’s something that I’d love to do.

“When Liverpool came in, there wasn’t even a second thought.

It was, ‘I want to do this and I want to stay at Liverpool’.

“I think the WSL is probably the best league in the world right now and playing in that top league, in every game you have to be on it and it’s something that every player dreams to play in.

“To be here, and to be here for the long term, is great for me as a player to improve and hopefully to implement the things I’m good at hopefully bring them every game and get better as we go.”

Earlier on Friday, Liverpool also tied up the signing of a second Bundesliga talent in goalkeeper Rafaela Borggrafe, who joins after a decade in Freiburg’s ranks.

The 25-year-old, who was on Germany’s standby list for EURO 2025, will link up with Rachael Laws and Faye Kirby as part of the club’s last line of defence.

“I spent 12 years with Freiburg but I think this is the best step for me, to come to Liverpool,” said Borggrafe.

“I’m happy – and a little bit sad to leave friends – but I want to get better and I think this is the best place for me to be here to work hard, get better and make the next big steps for my career.”
