Alexander Isak is expected to return to Liverpool’s starting lineup as they visit Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Arne Slot’s selection has been complicated slightly by Hugo Ekitike’s suspension.

The Frenchman was shown a second yellow card after taking his shirt off while celebrating a late winner in the Reds’ midweek Carabao Cup win over Southampton.

His subsequent suspension has opened the door for Isak to lead the line again, despite not being fully match fit.

He made his first Liverpool start against Southampton, marking the occasion with a goal, and will hope to continue that form in the Premier League.

Slot thinks he is not ready to complete ninety minutes: “[Isak] is able to make minutes again.

I don't think it's smart to play him 90 yet.”

Federico Chiesa, who assisted both goals against the Saints, is expected to help with the attacking workload and will likely appear off the bench.

Having rotated heavily into the Southampton match, Slot should have close to a full-strength squad for the trip to Selhurst Park.

Giovanni Leoni will miss the match with a torn ACL, which is expected to rule him out for most of the season.

Options are thin at centre-back as a result, meaning the established partnership of Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk will slot back in.

Jeremie Frimpong is fit again after recovering from a hamstring strain, but is not likely to start after completing 90 minutes against Southampton.

Having been rested against the Saints and in last weekend’s Merseyside derby, Florian Wirtz is expected to return to the side, allowing Dominik Szoboszlai to sit deeper alongside Ryan Gravenberch.

Alexis Mac Allister could be set for a rest.

Alisson will return between the sticks after making way for Giorgi Mamardashvili midweek.

Injured: Leoni (ACL)

Suspended: Ekitike

Time and date: 3.00pm BST on Saturday, September 27, 2025
