Liverpool boss Arne Slot has four options to choose from as he mulls over who to start at right-back against Newcastle.
The reigning Premier League champions head to St James’ Park on Monday night hoping to make it two wins from two at the start of the season after triumphing over Bournemouth in a six-goal thriller last week.
However, the Reds lost summer signing Jeremie Frimpong to injury early in the second half at Anfield and it has since been confirmed he will play no part against the Magpies because of a sore hamstring.
With regards to replacing Frimpong, Slot has revealed that Conor Bradley is back in training and that Joe Gomez is in contention.
However, the pair do lack match sharpness given their injury problems during pre-season and therefore Slot could ask either Wataru Endo or Dominik Szoboszlai to play out of position at right-back.
“So, there are other options we can explore.
Joe Gomez is definitely one of them, but for him to play already 20 minutes, that was already quite a lot,” Slot told reporters.

“I wouldn’t say he had a setback but he wasn’t able to train three days in a row completely with the team.
“Which is completely normal if you’re out for so long and all of a sudden the manager needs you for 20 minutes.
“But he is training with the team, so let’s see where he is on Monday, if he can be involved in the team or if he can even start.”
It is possible that Slot opts for Endo at full-back as Szoboszlai will be required to help combat what is expected to be a physical Newcastle midfield.
The Hungary international operated in a deeper role against Bournemouth, but could be restored to the No10 position with Ryan Gravenberch returning from suspension to partner Alexis Mac Allister.
This could mean big-money summer signing Florian Wirtz drops to the bench as Liverpool’s front three unchanged as Hugo Ekitike - linked with a move to Newcastle earlier in the window - looking to continue his impressive start to life in England.
Predicted Liverpool XI: Alisson; Endo, Konate, van Dijk, Kerkez; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Szoboszlai, Gakpo; Ekitike
Injured: Frimpong
Doubts: Bradley, Gomez
