Liverpool have agreed a £65.5 million (€75 million) deal to sell winger Luis Díaz to Bayern Munich, with the transfer reportedly close to completion as Díaz is set to undergo a medical at the German club. The agreement marks a significant profit for Liverpool, who originally signed Díaz in January 2022 for £37.5 million (€42.9 million) on a five-and-a-half-year contract. At 28 years old, Díaz has two years left on his Liverpool deal, making this a financially beneficial move for the Reds.

Bayern's initial offer of around £58.5 million (€67 million) was rejected by Liverpool, but they returned with an improved bid that included add-ons, leading to the current agreement on a £65.4 million (€75 million) total package. Final details are still being finalized as the clubs remain in advanced talks.

Díaz has made it known that he wishes to leave Liverpool this summer to join Bayern Munich. Liverpool, initially reluctant to sell a key first-team player, have been compelled to discuss the transfer due to his desire to move and the club’s summer signings in attacking positions which might limit his playing time going forward.

While with Liverpool in their 2025 pre-season tour, Díaz was left out of the squad for their friendly against AC Milan due to speculation surrounding his future. Liverpool manager Arne Slot confirmed the winger’s omission was related to this ongoing transfer situation. Díaz is currently with the Liverpool squad in Tokyo ahead of a friendly against Yokohama Marinos but is expected to complete his move to Bayern shortly.
