Liverpool have agreed a deal with Eintracht Frankfurt to sign Hugo Ekitike.
Ekitike is set to become the Premier League champions’ fourth signing of the summer after both clubs struck on a package worth a potential £79 million.
Arne Slot’s side will pay an initial £69M for the France under-21 international with the Bundesliga outfit set to receive up to £10M in future dependent add-ons.
It means thta the Reds’ summer spending will surpass a quarter of a billion with Ekitike following the arrivals of Jeremie Frimpong, Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez.
Freddie Woodman has also joined as a free agent while fellow goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili finally linked up with the club after signing for £29M last summer.
The Anfield club’s move for Ekitike came after a tentative approach for Newcastle forward Alexander Isak was turned down despite plans to broker a £120M deal.
Ironically, Eddie Howe’s side had been pursuing a deal for the 23-year-old prior to Liverpool’s interest in their talisman before looking at Yoane Wissa as an alterative.
