Owen Beck has signed a new long-term contract with Liverpool and joined Derby County on a season-long loan for the 2025/26 Sky Bet Championship campaign. The 22-year-old Welsh left-back, who progressed through Liverpool’s Academy and made three senior appearances for the Reds, will spend the upcoming season at Pride Park Stadium as Derby's first loan signing of the summer.
Beck has previous Championship experience, having spent the 2024/25 season on loan at Blackburn Rovers, where he made 24 league appearances under Derby manager John Eustace. This established a strong connection between the player and Eustace, which Beck described as a "no-brainer" for his move to Derby.
Aside from Blackburn, Beck has also had temporary spells at Famalicão, Bolton Wanderers, and Dundee, where he gained valuable playing time. He made his Liverpool debut in a Carabao Cup match in October 2021 and earned his first senior Wales international call-up in October 2023.
At Derby, Beck aims to build on his previous experience by adding more goals and assists to his game. He believes that Eustace can get the best out of him and is motivated to take his performance to the next level this season, contributing to Derby’s ambition of climbing toward mid-table.
Overall, Beck’s move is seen as a key addition to Derby County’s squad as they prepare for the new Championship campaign under Eustace, with hopes that his development will continue positively during this loan.
