Keyrol Figueroa has become the latest Liverpool starlet to sign his first professional contract with the club.

Son of former Wigan Athletic and Hull City star Maynor Figueroa, the 17-year-old joined the Reds at Under-14s level and has proven himself to be a prolific, versatile forward in Liverpool’s youth ranks ever since - having scored 90 goals in one season for the Reds Under-13s and Under-14s after first joining the club.

While he has missed much of this season because of injury and international duty, the teenager marked his latest return with a goal off the bench in the Under-18s’ 4-2 defeat to Wolves at the end of last month.

Figueroa now has three goals and two assists from nine appearances for the Under-18s in the U18 Premier League and FA Youth Cup this season.

The forward is yet to break through into the Under-21s, but has established himself on the international stage with the United States.

An Under-17s international, he scored seven goals to help his country reach the final of last year’s CONCACAF U17 Championship, while he also scored once in last November’s Under-17s World Cup as the USA lost to Germany in the round-of-16.

Handed his Liverpool Under-18s debut as a 15-year-old in October 2021, he fully established himself in Marc Bridge-Wilkinson's side following his return from the CONCACAF U17 Championships last season.

He would later score a hat-trick in a 3-0 victory over Wolves, as he finished the U18 Premier League season with four goals and three assists from seven starts.

Meanwhile, Figueroa also made his UEFA Youth League debut for Liverpool Under-19s in their quarter-final exit to Sporting Lisbon back in March 2023.

With the Reds first team having already secured their place in next season’s Champions League, the 17-year-old will be looking to make an impact in the Youth League next season.

His sporadic displays have at least caught the attention of one famous admirer though, with Antoine Griezmann, who is interested in becoming an agent when he retires, taking a personal interest in the young forward's development.

In 2022, a source close to the Figueroa family revealed to the Daily Star: “Keyrol is amazed whenever Antoine gets in touch.

It’s a huge boost.”

Now back from injury, Figueroa will look to finish the season strongly and, after signing his first professional contract, follow in the footsteps of fellow Liverpool teenage forward Jayden Danns by stepping up into the Under-21s in the not too distant future.
