Olivia Smith is set to become the first £1m player in the women's game after Liverpool agreed a deal to sell the forward to Arsenal.
The 20-year-old, who joined from Portuguese side Sporting CP last year, scored seven goals in 19 appearances for the Reds across all competitions last term.
The Canadian will now be free to discuss personal terms and undergo a medical with the Gunners, who added former Reds skipper Taylor Hinds to their ranks earlier this week.
The ECHO understands the deal for Smith is set to bank the Reds more than £1m, surpassing the world-record fee Chelsea paid San Diego Wave for the transfer of Naomi Girma earlier this year.
The Reds have also included a sell-on clause in the deal.

Since returning to the Women's Super League in 2022, Liverpool have consolidated their place in the division with three top-eight finishes in a row.
Yet despite the disappointment of seeing a player as talented as Smith leave the club, it is understood that the historic fee the Reds have agreed with Arsenal will offer the club a significant opportunity to reinvest and strengthen the team ahead of the new campaign.

In 2019, Smith, aged 15 years and 94 days became the youngest person to play for Canada, and now is set to become the third major signing for Arsenal this summer with the club keen to carry on the momentum of winning the Champions League.
Chloe Kelly has already signed from Manchester City, along with Hinds.
Smith’s expected move also fits Arsenal manager Renee Slegers’ decision to bring down the average age of her squad.
