Liverpool and Bayern Munich have agreed a transfer deal worth $88 million (£66 million) for the Colombian winger Luis Diaz, and the 28-year-old has been given permission to leave the club's pre-season tour in Asia.
Diaz is currently in Tokyo with the majority of his Reds teammates, but will look to travel in the next 24 hours.
It is understood that the Reds made two separate attempts to secure a contract extension with the South American winger, which failed due to a gap between offers and demands.
While Liverpool has spent big in the transfer window this summer, this latest exit will bring in another substantial fee.
Liverpool paid a fee of around $58 million (£43 million) for Diaz in the end, including the triggered add-ons in his move from FC Porto in January 2022
That means the Reds have made a profit of around $30 million (£23 million).
Diaz had just two years remaining on his contract at Anfield and is expected to sign a four or five year contract in Germany
