Liverpool's hopes of signing Alexander Isak this summer are dwindling, as the Premier League champions are not keen on pursuing players they consider unattainable.
The Reds have already had a nine-figure bid for Isak turned down this summer.
With Newcastle United resolute in their decision not to sell the 25-year-old forward, it seems likely that Isak will remain a Magpie when the transfer window closes on 1 September.
News broke on Saturday morning that the Swedish international has reacted 'furiously' upon learning he will not be sold this summer.
While reports suggest that Isak will not play for Newcastle until he accepts the board's decision not to sell him during this transfer window, Liverpool's recruitment policy makes a breakthrough unlikely.

The i Paper outlined before the weekend that the champions' criteria for any transfer target include them being 'realistically attainable' and that any deal would represent 'fair market value'.

At present, neither of these requirements would be met with Isak, given Newcastle's valuation of their star striker at over £150million and their unwillingness to sell.
Liverpool are expected to seek a new No 9 after agreeing to sell Darwin Nunez to Al-Hilal.
They have already signed Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt this summer, although the Frenchman can also play in a wide attacking role.
Ekitike was on Newcastle's radar before the Reds made their move, and they are still in the market for forwards.
