Such a figure would smash both Liverpool's club-record transfer and the British record too.

The actual figure spent on Wirtz has been part of a near-£300m spending spree so far this summer and Liverpool, benefitting from the recent sales of Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez, are in a strong position financially to be able to continue that spending on Isak or any other targets.
