Liverpool could already have the perfect transfer gift lined up if they do decide to try and snap-up Marc Guehi this summer.

The Reds have been heavily linked with signing the Crystal Palace defender as their summer transfer spree appears set to continue.

Jeremie Frimpong, Armin Pecsi and Florian Wirtz have already been signed by Liverpool, with the expectation of more additions to come.

Milos Kerkez is also closing in on his own move to Anfield, meanwhile, and yet the Reds do not look set to stop their spending any time soon.

Guehi has emerged as a possible target for Liverpool this summer as they aim to replace Jarell Quansah.

The Reds are close to agreeing a deal worth around £35million for Quansah - which would see the defender leave for Bayer Leverkusen in a permanent transfer.

As a result, Guehi has been linked with joining Liverpool to fill the void left by Quansah's potential departure.

And, if a deal does manage to get agreed, the Reds have the perfect gift lined up for the Palace defender.

If Liverpool do go on to sign Guehi, they would need to assign the England international a squad number for his time at Anfield.

The Reds currently have several options available, including one that has been worn by some club legends.

Liverpool could hand Guehi the squad No.6 if he was to move to Anfield.

The number has been vacant since Thiago Alcantara's departure - in the summer of 2024 - and has previously been worn by club icons such as Alan Hansen and Emlyn Hughes.

Only time will tell if Liverpool do go on to express a genuine interest in signing Guehi this summer.

If Quansah does leave Anfield, it would see Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate and Joe Gomez as the remaining senior centre-backs at the club.
