Chelsea are hurtling towards a transfer ‘calamity’ after a report revealed a shock move made by Mason Mount has greatly increased the chances of a transfer to Liverpool, Man Utd or Newcastle. Negotiations over Mount extending his stay at Stamford Bridge recently reached a ‘stalemate’, per the Telegraph. Mount though the Blues don’t appear to rate their homegrown star all that highly.
However, unlike a new deal for fellow homegrown star Reece James that was straightforward, discussions with Mount have stuttered and stalled.
A valuation around the £50m mark has been touted and Liverpool, Man Utd and Newcastle are all known admirers.
The Mail conclude his efforts to force Chelsea’s hand may already be ‘paying off’ given Man Utd, Liverpool and Newcastle are all confirmed as circling.
He also labelled any scenario in which Chelsea allow Mount to walk a ‘calamity’ for the club.
