RB Leipzig reportedly phoned Liverpool to discuss their intentions to sign Ibrahima Konate but the Reds have now informed them that they won't be pursuing the transfer.

According to German outlet Bild, Leipzig phoned Liverpool to get to the bottom of the rumours after it was reported that they were closing in on the signing of Konate.

Published in today's print edition of Bild, states that Liverpool informed the Bundesliga club that they would not be pursuing the deal.

Konate has thrived at Leipzig alongside Dayot Upamecano at the heart of defence and his current defensive partner has already agreed to join Bayern Munich at the end of the season.

Liverpool remain highly likely to pursue a permanent deal for Ozan Kabak, who has impressed since arriving on loan from Schalke.
