Liverpool have announced the signing of teenage striker Will Wright from Salford City.
The Reds kept their latest acquisition under wraps even after he made his debut for the Under-21s in a friendly against Hull City on Saturday, but they have now gone public after beating Arsenal to the punch.
Wright looked to be on his way to the Emirates when the Gunners agreed a fee of £200,000 plus add-ons with Salford last month.
But the 17-year-old held out for Liverpool to match the offer, which they did, and he is now set to continue his development on Merseyside.

A brief statement posted to Liverpool's website reads: "Liverpool FC have completed the signing of Will Wright from Salford City.
The 17-year-old striker joins the Reds in a permanent transfer having made his senior bow with Salford during the 2024-25 campaign.
"He linked up with Rob Page’s Liverpool U21s squad last week and made his first appearance on Saturday, featuring for the final half-hour of a goalless draw with Hull City at the Academy."
Wright came to the attention of top clubs last season.
He made his senior debut for Salford in an EFL Trophy tie last November, then played against Manchester City in the FA Cup and appeared twice in League Two.

Wright is the latest body through the door in what has been a dazzling summer transfer window for Liverpool.
It would take another record bid to poach Isak from Newcastle and unite him with new signings Wright, Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez, Hugo Ekitike, Armin Pecsi and Freddie Woodman.
