Liverpool FC Women have appointed Gareth Taylor as their new head coach in August 2025, succeeding Matt Beard.

Taylor joins Liverpool after leaving his role as head coach of Manchester City Women earlier the same year. During his nearly five years in charge at Manchester City, he won two major trophies: the FA Cup in 2020 and the League Cup in 2022. Under his leadership, City narrowly missed out on the 2023-24 Barclays Women's Super League title on goal difference.

Before managing the senior women's team, Taylor spent over a decade at Manchester City, including coaching roles in the men’s academy. During his four full seasons leading City’s senior women’s side, the team consistently finished near the top of the league with second, third, fourth, and second place finishes and reached the quarter-finals of major cup competitions.

Gareth Taylor, an English former Wales international born on 25 February 1973, brings substantial experience and a track record of success to Liverpool Women, marking a new chapter for the team as they aim to improve their competitive standing under his guidance.
