Liverpool wrapped up the Premier League title with four games to spare, with the Reds now basking in their new status as league champions.
Arne Slot’s side received a guard of honour on Sunday against Chelsea with Arsenal the next team to give Liverpool the traditional post-champion ritual, a moment that will feel extra sweet with the match taking place at Anfield.

Yet for Liverpool going into Sunday, facing off against Arsenal could give the Reds the chance to land an early blow on Mikel Arteta’s side looking ahead to the next Premier League season.

It’s been 13 years since Arsenal last claimed a win against Liverpool at Anfield, with the Reds since taking a commanding hold of the fixture whenever the north London side make the long trip up to Merseyside.
And whilst Liverpool have virtually nothing to play for on Sunday with Arsenal looking to confirm second-place in the standings, Slot’s side have the perfect opportunity to give their Premier League title rivals another scare with a big result at Anfield.
Indeed, Arsenal are mentally at their lowest after their 3-1 aggregate loss to PSG on Wednesday night, with Arteta’s side looking physically exhausted on the day in the final moments against the side that eliminated Liverpool from the Champions League.

And for Liverpool, they will want to send Arsenal a message for next season on Sunday, with a big result against the north London side an event that could shake up Arteta’s belief in his team before a ball has even been kicked for the new campaign.
Arsenal will be the last traditional big-six side Liverpool will face this season, with the fixture also the penultimate home game of the campaign before the all-important title lift on May 25th at Anfield.
And Liverpool’s final Premier League fixtures could be some entertaining affairs, with the Reds travelling to the English south coast to face Brighton & Hove Albion for their final away game of the season before facing Crystal Palace at home to cap off the year.
With nothing to play for but pride and respect, Liverpool will be confident in their ability to get maximum points from their final three fixtures, with Slot also likely to test out some fringe players looking ahead to next season.
