Alan Hutton has backed Liverpool to sign an alternative to Ruben Neves this month. Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender insisted the Reds need a short term fix to their midfield crisis. On Monday (23 January), sources told this site that Jurgen Klopp’s side made an enquiry about the Portugal international as they look to bolster the squad this month with a midfielder that can instantly slot into the team.

Hutton suggested Liverpool will have more important targets to focus on in the summer.



I think they have probably got bigger targets to get in that can be that player in the Liverpool midfield moving forward. “Whether that be Jude Bellingham or whoever, they will have bigger targets but they do need something short term as well I think.“
