As Germany's star player and an Adidas athlete, Wirtz will continue to wear Adidas kits at club level for at least the next five years, following the confirmation in March that Adidas would replace Nike as Liverpool's kit partner.



However, it was somewhat odd to see Wirtz unveiled in a Nike kit, holding up a shirt he'll never wear in competitive action for the Reds.

While Adidas will be pleased to have one of German football's brightest stars at one of their newly affiliated clubs, they may have been disappointed not to see their famous three stripes featured prominently at his unveiling.

Instead, he wore the logo of their global rivals, Nike.

Unfortunately, red tape made the inclusion of Adidas branding impossible.

Liverpool's new partnership with Adidas will commence from 1 August 2025, meaning the Reds will continue to sport Nike kits for the remainder of the summer.

However, details of the new Adidas Liverpool kits - both home and away - will be announced via club and Adidas channels and available for purchase from 1 August.

The delayed launch is due to the Coronavirus pandemic and the end of Liverpool's previous kit deal with New Balance in 2020.

Consequently, all of Liverpool's new signings have been seen wearing Nike training gear and kits for their medicals and unveilings.

The Reds' new signings are still awaiting confirmation of their squad numbers.

This could be due to the club waiting for outgoing transfers to free up numbers, but marketing considerations may also play a part.

Liverpool and Adidas are set to capitalise on their partnership - rumoured to be worth around £65m - as it officially kicks off.

With Wirtz being Liverpool's record signing, anticipate the German starlet taking centre stage both on and off the pitch.
