Salford City teenager Will Wright has agreed a move to Liverpool after turning down Arsenal.

The Reds have negotiated a deal for the 17-year-old striker that will see them pay £200,000 up front along with a potential number of add-ons.

Arsenal are understood to have offered a bigger fee to the League Two outfit and were prepared to pay more in wages for the forward.

However, Wright preferred a transfer to Liverpool for footballing reasons and the fact he would be able to stay in the North West rather than having to move to London.

The player is undergoing a medical and, on the deal being completed, will start in Liverpool's under-21 side under new coach Rob Page.

Wright has been a prolific scorer at youth level with Salford and made his first-team breakthrough as as 16-year-old last season when making his debut in the EFL Trophy against Wolves U21s in November.

He also made a brief appearance in the FA Cup third round defeat to Manchester City in January before being given a League Two bow at Port Vale the following month, after which he also featured in Salford's defeat to Bradford City.
