Liverpool are planning to hold talks with a view to minimise the time that Reds players such as Mohamed Salah will spend at this season's Africa Cup of Nations, according to reports.

Jurgen Klopp is facing the possibility of being without a number of his biggest stars for as many as eight Premier League matches around the turn of the year.

If the aforementioned Liverpool trio jet off on that date, they would miss two potentially title-defining fixtures against Leicester City and Chelsea.

It seems as though Klopp is hopeful of keeping Mane, Salah and Keita on Merseyside for as long as possible before the Africa Cup of Nations kicks off.

The Liverpool boss is preparing to ask the national camps of Senegal, Egypt and Guinea if the Reds stars can be released in January instead of late December, according to the Mirror.

If the German boss is able to find an agreement to suit all parties, it could hand Liverpool a huge boost in their bid for Premier League glory at the end of the season.

Mane, Salah and Keita are expected to be involved for Liverpool against bitter rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
