Luis Diaz's faces an uncertain future at Liverpool, with active interest in the winger.

Bayern Munich have made their move with Barcelona and Saudi Arabian officials waiting and watching.

But the Reds' response to all who have come asking has been consistent throughout - Diaz is not for sale.

It was that when the Spanish champions made their inquiry, the same again when the German champions followed along and most recently when Bayern tabled their opening €67.5m (£58.6m) bid, they were handed an unequivocal no.

Included in Liverpool's 29-man squad who have flown to Hong Kong for their pre-season schedule, Arne Slot still sees his No.7 as an important piece of the puzzle.

Whilst Diaz is part of the travelling party, the club do not expect Bayern's interest to waver.

However, it has now been suggested that there will come a breaking point and the Bundesliga club will turn to the next down on their list.

French publication RMC Sport have named Bayern in the hunt for Lyon talent Malick Fofana, though before launching that pursuit they would have to be certain there is no hope in landing Diaz.

Rated at €30m (£26m) by Transfermarkt, the 20-year-old scored 11 and assisted six during his first full season in French football.

The only issue arising from this is the fact Liverpool too are mentioned as suitors for Fofana and have been in numerous reports throughout the year.

In their quest to keep Diaz, they could lose out on the possible signing of one of the Belgian national team's most promising stars.

Diaz's importance can't be understated as en route to Premier League success last term, he scored 13 and assisted seven more.

In competitions his return was 17 goals and eight assists, though on a deeper level it was his switch to become a centre forward that helped the front line function as it needed to when others were out injured.

Adding further intrigue to the Colombian international's scenario is his contract at Anfield.

As things stand, Diaz would walk away as a free agent in 2027.
