Arne Slot was appointed Liverpool head coach in June 2024, following the end of the 2023-24 season.

The Dutchman joined the Reds from Eredivisie side Feyenoord, taking over from Jurgen Klopp, who stepped down after nine years in charge.

Slot guided Liverpool to Premier League glory in his very first season, clinching the 2024-25 title with four matches to spare.

His debut campaign also included a League Cup final appearance, though the Reds were narrowly defeated by Newcastle United at Wembley.

Slot’s exceptional work earned him the LMA Manager of the Year award.

Before arriving at Anfield, Slot enjoyed three highly successful seasons with Feyenoord.

He guided the club to the Eredivisie title in 2023 and was named Eredivisie Manager of the Year twice.

He also secured the KNVB Cup in April 2024, defeating NEC Nijmegen 1-0 in the final.

Prior to his time at Feyenoord, Slot was the head coach of AZ Alkmaar, leading them to second place in the Eredivisie in the 2019-20 season – just behind Ajax on goal difference – before the season was cancelled due to COVID-19.

Although Klopp and Arne Slot have very different coaching styles, Liverpool chairman Tom Werner believes Slot brings qualities to the club that are seriously “under-appreciated” by the fans.

“One thing I would say about Arne, and this is no disrespect to Jurgen, is that we have made a lot of tactical improvements in the second half,” Werner said on The Overlap US?

“I think his management of the team has been outstanding and when you think about it, these players are mostly playing twice a week, sometimes three times a week, and that management is under-appreciated by the fans.

“All the players we have signed too are 25 years or younger as well, so I think Arne is a great teacher.

“Even though he has some of the best talent in the world, I think they listen to him and appreciate the education they are getting to become better football players.”
