FSG executive and Liverpool FC chairman Tom Werner has revealed whether there are any Anfield expansion plans.

The storied ground currently has a capacity of just over 61 000.

This places Anfield 4th out of all Premier League sides for stadium capacity, with only Old Trafford (Manchester United), the London Stadium (West Ham), and the Tottenham Hotspur stadium boasting more.

The Anfield Road Stand expansion, completed during the 2023/24 season, marked a significant milestone in Liverpool FC’s stadium development.

The project began in 2021 and added 7,000 seats to Anfield.

Despite setbacks—most notably the administration of the original contractor, Buckingham Group, in 2023—the club successfully completed the work with new contractors, and the stand was fully operational by early 2024.

Tom Werner, speaking to the Liverpool Echo, first revealed that it’s an “exciting time” to be a Reds fan:

“It is an exciting time right now but we wake up every day and I keep using the word ‘relentless,'” Werner began to the Liverpool Echo

“We want to win more trophies, we don’t want to just appreciate what we have done.

We are hungry to be more successful and what is exciting is that the league is tremendously competitive and we think it will be a challenging season.”

The FSG chief then revealed that Anfield will likely stay the same size for the foreseeable future:

“We are comfortable that this is the right size now, more or less,” said the Liverpool chairman.

“We’d like to have the back of the house work a little bit?

We’re expanding the club store at Anfield and we are not shy about how we can generate more revenues because the more revenues we generate the more you can plough it into the pitch and the success on the pitch.”

It was announced by the club last week that they had received official approval from Liverpool City Council to upgrade its flagship Anfield store, expanding the retail space by nearly 4,000 square feet and modernizing the experience for fans ahead of the 2025/26 season.
