Liverpool coach Diogo Paiva says the club "will always hold a special place" in his heart after confirming his departure "earlier than expected" on Friday.

Paiva joined from Porto last summer where he had served as the club's Under-19s coach and was believed to have worked specifically on techniques around individual skills like one-on-one duels with the players.
