Liverpool FC have completed the signing of striker Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt in a deal reportedly worth £79 million, including £69 million in an initial fee plus £10 million in potential add-ons. The 23-year-old France under-21 international joins as part of manager Arne Slot’s summer rebuild, following other arrivals such as Jeremie Frimpong, Florian Wirtz, and Milos Kerkez.

Ekitike had a standout season with Frankfurt, scoring 22 goals in 48 appearances across all competitions, contributing significantly to the club's qualification for the UEFA Champions League. He also played a key role in Frankfurt’s Europa League run, where they reached the quarterfinals before being eliminated by eventual winners Tottenham Hotspur.

Prior to Liverpool's successful bid, Newcastle United had lodged a club-record offer of £70 million that was rejected, while Manchester United also expressed interest in the forward. Frankfurt’s sporting director Markus Krösche commented on Ekitike’s move, emphasizing it as a strong example of the club’s ability to nurture talent destined for top European sides.

As part of the contractual arrangements, 20% of the transfer fee will go to Paris Saint-Germain due to a sell-on clause from when Ekitike moved from PSG to Frankfurt in February 2024.
