Arne Slot effectively guided Liverpool to Premier League glory with Jurgen Klopp's players, and he wants to put his own stamp on the squad ahead of his second season in charge.

Signing new players is all well and good, but there are already several players in the Reds' squad who Slot was not able to give enough minutes to this season, so it is unavoidable that some existing players will have to make way for any shiny new additions over the summer.

One player who appears almost certain to depart this summer is Darwin Nunez, who tallied just seven goals during his third season as a Liverpool player and saw his game time cut drastically from his first two campaigns under Jurgen Klopp.

The Uruguayan was the subject of interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia during the January transfer window, but Liverpool was unwilling to do business at the time as it chased glory on four fronts.

The Reds expect there to be a strong market for Nunez during the summer window, and they should be able to recoup a decent amount of money from him, either from Saudi Arabia or Atletico Madrid.

Slot clearly favors the Portugal international over Nunez but his sketchy injury record counts against him.

There is a fine line between tweaking a winning squad and overhauling it, though, so Liverpool must tread carefully when deciding just how many attackers it offloads in the coming months.

That's because Jota and Nunez are not the only players who are being linked with moves away — Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo and Federico Chiesa have also been the subject of speculation surrounding their futures.

Diaz has been linked with Barcelona — the club his father said he "dreamed" of playing for a couple of years ago — and with his contract up in two years' time, Liverpool may deem it wise to cash in this summer.

Gakpo is supposedly being eyed by Bayern Munich, while Chiesa has been linked with a return to Serie A virtually ever since he moved to Merseyside last year.

Of course, all five players will not leave, but two or three are likely to, and that is a significant overhaul, irrespective of whether Slot wants the departing players to leave or not
