The Premier League is up and running.

Liverpool began the defence of their title with a dramatic 4-2 win over Bournemouth at Anfield last Friday evening.

Arne Slot's side will have had a full 10 days to prepare by the time they play their next game in what is likely to be a hostile atmosphere at Newcastle United on Monday evening given the ongoing situation regards their wantaway striker Alexander Isak, who is keen on a move to the Reds.

And the Reds boss could be missing a number of players for the trip to the North East.

One player definitely out is Jeremie Frimpong, who was one of four new signings to start against Bournemouth.

Frimpong departed after an hour having complained of a hamstring problem, and is now expected to be missing until after the forthcoming international break.

At least the Reds will be able to welcome back Ryan Gravenberch after the midfielder served a one-match Premier League ban last week having been sent off in the final game of last season at home to Crystal Palace.

Conor Bradley hasn't featured since the tour of the Far East due to a minor injury and faces a race against time to prove his fitness for Monday having only resumed team training on Thursday.

Joe Gomez made his first Premier League outing from the bench late on against Bournemouth but missed parts of training this week, although he is expected to be available.

Kostas Tsimikas was left out of the Wembley clash with a number of clubs interested in signing the Greece international on a permanent basis.

Liverpool may once again be compelled to leave the left-back on the sidelines.

And with RB Leipzig ramping up their interest in Harvey Elliott, it could be that the 22-year-old is also not included.
