According to one journalist, Liverpool could face an ‘unlikely’ twist in their pursuit of Ruben Amorim as the club’s next manager.
Amorim’s track record in his five years in management so far is exceptional.
He won the Portuguese Cup with Braga after just a few months in charge, delivered a league title at Sporting CP for the first time in 19-years, and is on course to repeat that feat this season.
On top of that, he plays with a similar style to Jurgen Klopp and very much embraces giving young players a chance.
He’s been at Sporting CP for over four years now, far longer than Alonso’s less than two year stay at Leverkusen.
Speaking to The Empire of the Kop, journalist Neil Jones said there was a possibility that Amorim could opt to stay at Sporting CP.
Although he admitted this was ‘unlikely.’
“There has to be a chance that he does decide he’s happy [staying] with Sporting, but it would be unlikely to me,” Jones said.
After that, Amorim is also set to play the Portuguese Cup final against Porto on May 26th.
