Manchester United and Bayern Munich have received a huge blow with the news that Aston Villa boss Unai Emery will extend his contract at the club.
The success he has had at one of the oldest clubs in England has not gone unnoticed, and the likes of United and Bayern had begun to circle the former Arsenal manager.

As both clubs monitored possible options to turn to, Emery looked one of the more appealing given his successes on the European stage and in domestic leagues.
However, according to The Athletic, the Villa boss is now set to extend his contract at the club until 2027 — ending all speculation of a move elsewhere.
While it is an obvious blow to United and Bayern, it also piles more pressure on Liverpool in regards to the hunt for Jürgen Klopp's successor.
The likes of Barcelona, Liverpool, Bayern, Chelsea and United could all be battling for candidates such as Roberto De Zerbi of Brighton and Hove Albion, Sporting Club de Portugal's Rúben Amorim and Feyenoord's Arne Slot.
That will inevitably leave some teams disappointed — especially if the trend of managers being hard to lure away from their existing clubs continues, with Emery joining Alonso in taking a studied approach to his career development.
Liverpool.com says: With Alonso rejecting the offer, Amorim possibly in talks with West Ham United and now Emery deviating away from United and Bayern, the pressure on FSG's chief of football Michael Edwards is growing.
