Liverpool’s transfer window is starting to come into sharp focus as we approach the final weeks of the season.
The Reds have just three games left in the Premier League before a summer of intrigue takes hold at Anfield.
Trent Alexander-Arnold will depart, but the right-back is unlikely to be the only Liverpool player to be starring elsewhere next season.
Meanwhile, the Anfield arrivals lounge should get a little more action this season after seating only Federico Chiesa last year.
There are a number of positions Arne Slot is likely to target, but in amongst all the churn, the Liverpool head coach should be looking at cover in defensive midfield.
Having leaned heavily on Ryan Gravenberch all season long, Slot could really do with signing an affordable option who can rotate with the Dutchman.
And, as it turns out, one could be emerging at Aston Villa.

As reported by The Daily Mail on Wednesday, Villa once again have some profit and sustainability issues heading into the summer.
They claim Unai Emery will probably have to make one ‘significant sale’ before the PSR deadline on June 30th.

With Liverpool linked to Morgan Rogers, Reds fans have been surmising that it could be he who is sold, perhaps to the Premier League champions.
But after The Athletic delved a little deeper into Villa’s transfer plans, we’d suggest midfielder Boubacar Kamara could be a more likely target for Liverpool.

Liverpool were linked with Kamara when they revamped their midfield in 2023 and in the two years he has confirmed himself as a quality defensive midfielder.
The Athletic report that while Kamara has a contract offer on the table from Villa, his representatives have also fielded interest from other, unnamed, Premier League sides who want to be kept abreast of his situation.
Kamara is reportedly keen to ensure his future lies in the Champions League and also wants to stay in England.
With all of that in the mix – as well as Liverpool’s need for more quality in midfield – surely the Reds are one of the sides in the running?
Although Kamara has had some injury problems since joining Villa, he has also been quietly very impressive for the Midlands club.
The Athletic cite ‘multiple sources’ as claiming that Kamara is Villa’s best player when he’s fit and available.
Clearly, the 25-year-old believes he can be playing for an English side who are regulars in the Champions League.
While there are question marks over whether he would start for Slot, he would undoubtedly improve the overall level of the Liverpool squad.
Having joined Villa on a free transfer in 2022 and with a contract that runs for two more years – not to mention his team’s PSR issues – it is unlikely Kamara would cost an eye-watering fee.
As Liverpool search to add further depth in their midfield, this is one to keep an eye on.
