Liverpool look like they might have found their next manager.

Indeed, Arne Slot is the man the Reds have at the top of their list right now, and, by the sounds of things, negotiations with the Dutchman are accelerating at a rate of knots.

Feyenoord are apparently in talks with Liverpool over a compensation package, and we may be on the verge of a new era at Anfield – the Arne Slot era.

We have no idea what the Slot era would look like at Liverpool, but we are able to make a good guess as to who one of the Dutchman’s first signings at Anfield may be.

Liverpool did a lot of work on their midfield last summer, but there is still room for another defensive midfield player.

Indeed, as good as Wataru Endo has been, he’s not the long-term solution to the Reds’ problems in that position.

Luckily, Liverpool have been scouring the market for other defensive midfield options as of late, and one man Arne Slot knows well has been on their radar.

Liverpool have been linked with a move for Teun Koopmeiners for a long time now, and Slot’s arrival could be the catalyst to get this deal done.

The pair worked together brilliantly at Feyenoord, and with Koopmeiners suggesting that he’s looking for a new challenge this summer, the stars could be aligning for Slot and Koopmeiners to reunite at Anfield.

Managers often sign players they know well when they arrive in new jobs – Brendan Rodgers signed Joe Allen shortly after getting the Liverpool job, while Jurgen Klopp’s first signing was Joel Matip, a player he knew well from the Bundesliga.

Described as ‘the best midfielder in Europe’, there would certainly be reason to get excited if Slot were to bring Koopmeiners to Liverpool with him.
