Alexis Mac Allister has enjoyed a dream debut season at Liverpool since arriving from Brighton.

Liverpool is back in Europa League action against Atalanta on Thursday night.

And the Reds could be on the verge of activating a transfer clause from the deal that brought Mac Allister to Anfield, potentially leading to a further financial boost for Brighton.

Last summer, Liverpool triggered his $56m (£45m/€53m) release clause, contributing to Brighton's record-breaking Premier League profit of $154m (£123m/€144m) for the 2022/23 financial year.

The Seagulls, who also sold Marc Cucurella and Yves Bissouma during this period, could earn an additional $50m (£40m/€47m) in add-ons from those departures, including clauses in Mac Allister's contract at Liverpool.

Finance expert Kieran Maguire told Football Insider: "If you take a look at the small print of Brighton's accounts, it says that it could earn up to $50m (£40m/€47m) from add-ons," adding, "I believe the add-ons attached to the McAllister deal to Liverpool are in the region of $25m (£20m/€23m).

"Therefore, if it comes to the last day of the season, expect to see lots of Brighton fans singing 'You'll Never Walk Alone' and wanting Liverpool to win the Premier League.

And now that Brighton isn't in the Europa League, it will want Liverpool to win that as well because that will mean further money coming to the club."

While the specific details of the clauses are unknown, it's believed Brighton could be in for a hefty windfall should Liverpool clinch the Premier League title.

It could prove to be a fitting send-off for Jurgen Klopp, who could end his tenure in the Europa League final in Dublin.

Liverpool.com says: Mac Allister has been the signing of the season in the Premier League and worth every penny that Liverpool paid Brighton for his services.
