Liverpool defender Adam Lewis will spend next season on loan at Scottish Premiership side Livingston - and look to thwart former mentor Steven Gerrard.

Lewis will move north of the border for the new campaign by linking up with David Martindale’s side, who finished sixth in Scotland’s top flight last season.

And it means the 21-year-old left-back will come up against Rangers boss Gerrard, who was previously his coach for Liverpool under-18s.

It was during that period the Reds legend expressed his admiration for the youngster he made captain of the team.

“Going forward, I haven’t seen anyone as good as him at that age, in terms of quality and what he can deliver in the final third," said Gerrard.

Lewis spent the first half of last season on loan with Amiens in France before moving to League One side Plymouth Argyle, where he made 20 appearances.

He joined Liverpool's Academy at U6 level and signed a long-term contract with the Reds last year having made his first-team debut in the memorable FA Cup fourth round replay win over Shrewsbury Town at Anfield in February 2020.
