Liverpool FC’s whirlwind summer has been about more than just new arrivals – it’s also showcased the club’s efforts to lock down the future of their brightest prospects in both the first team and the Academy.

Conor Bradley, now firmly part of the senior setup, penned a fresh deal in May.

Meanwhile, 20-year-old midfielder James McConnell is closing in on a long-term contract extension before heading out on loan to aid his development.

Similarly, after gaining valuable experience at Dundee last season, Luca Stephenson is expected to sign new terms before embarking on another loan stint.

The stream of positive news continues with left-back Owen Beck, who has signed a new contract of his own and will join Derby County on loan for the 2025/26 campaign.

But it’s not limited to the men’s team.

Liverpool FC Women have officially announced that Gemma Bonner signed a new contract that will take her into an incredible 10th season in Red.

Bonner’s journey back to the summit of Liverpool’s appearance charts reads like a love affair with the badge itself.

Having captained the club to back-to-back WSL titles in 2013 and 2014 during her first six-year stint, she departed for Manchester City in 2018 before eventually returning via Racing Louisville in January 2023.

What followed was a remarkable renaissance that saw her surpass Ashley Hodson’s appearance record of 134 games in November 2023, with her current tally now standing at an impressive 177 matches.

Having put pen to paper on the deal at the AXA Melwood Training Centre, Bonner told Liverpoolfc.com: “It was very easy.”

“I think once I knew that the club wanted to extend, for me it was a no-brainer and I’m excited for what the future holds here.

“The club is obviously going through a bit of a transition process, but I think [a big factor is] knowing there’s processes in place and the ambition is to get back and compete for trophies.”

“I think already in the second half of last season there was progression and standards?

I think that’s something that Liverpool is known for in terms of the winning mentality and, being here, that is something I’m always striving to bring to the club.”
