Arne Slot is preparing for his second season in charge of Liverpool.
After such a successful debut campaign in charge of the Reds, the Dutchman will be eager to mold his squad to how he wants it to be and with that comes some increasingly important decisions.
Decisions around squad depth and player roles will have to be made, and certain transfer activity could offer an insight into what Arne Slot is thinking.
The left-back department needed some strengthening, that was clear, after Andy Robetson’s performances become inconsistent as he ages and the gap in quality between the Scotsman and Kostas Tsimikas becomes clear.
As a result, Arne Slot and Liverpool moved swiftly to sign arguably the best left-back in the league last season Milos Kerkez, and the Hungarian arrived eager to provide Robetson with much-needed competition.
A decision that could now see Kostas Tsimikas’ playing time limited even further than it already is.
After signing for Liverpool in 2020, the Greek full-back has been the second-choice at the club, and despite making a series of impressive contributions whenever called upon, Kerkez could push him towards the exit door this summer.
It is a new era under Arne Slot, but the idea that Tsimikas isn’t a regular starter appears to have not changed.
Because of this, according to Give Me Sport, Kostas Tsimikas is said to be open-minded about the next step in his career and would be willing to leave Liverpool in search of regular first-team football.
Liverpool are not actively looking to sell the defender, but they will also not stand in his way if the right opportunity presents itself.
Clubs in La Liga have reportedly made initial enquiries, while teams in the Premier league are also keeping tabs on the 29-year-old.
With the arrival of Milos Kerkez, the natural assumption can be made that Kostas Tsimikas will now be Liverpool’s third-choice left-back.
That realization could prove to be too difficult for Tsimikas to bear, and he may then look elsewhere.
