Liverpool’s director of research, Ian Graham, has resigned from his role at the club in the latest major change at Anfield.

The news comes on the same day it was announced sporting director Julian Ward will be stepping down at the end of the season.

Dr Graham resigned in June and is working out his notice until May which gives Liverpool the best chance to replace him with the best possible successor.

Graham worked under former sporting director Michael Edwards to grow Liverpool’s data department, with a primary focus on recruitment and player analysis.

Edwards left the club at the end of last season while his successor Ward will remain in his role until May after he informed Liverpool’s owners he wants to take a break from football.

Graham has been at Liverpool since April 2012, when he joined from a firm called Decision Technology that had worked with former Liverpool director of football Damien Comolli at Tottenham Hotspur.
