Arne Slot has made an incredible impact since being appointed as Liverpool manager but it could have been very different for the Reds.
Jurgen Klopp’s departure from Anfield was incredibly emotional, but after nine years as manager, panic quickly set in over who would fill his shoes for the years to come.
The German had led Liverpool to one Premier League title, an FA Cup, and the Champions League trophy during his long, successful time in charge on Merseyside, and nobody expected it to end so suddenly.
Of course, Slot has been a sensation since arriving at Liverpool, winning the Premier League during his first season in England, and completely rebuilding the squad over the summer months.

Liverpool broke the British transfer record for Florian Wirtz this summer before doing the same for Alexander Isak just a few weeks later, and the team isn’t even at its best but is still top of the league table.
Ruben Amorim has also splashed the cash at Old Trafford.
Man United signed Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig, Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford, and Matheus Cunha from Wolves to revamp the attack.
Despite all of that, the Red Devils continue to struggle, with the former Sporting CP figure claiming victory in just 18 of his 47 matches in charge, recording an awful 38 per cent win rate.

Supporters expected huge things from him, but after plummeting to 15th in the Premier League table last season and losing in the Europa League final, those wishes and expectations have fallen flat.

Mick Brown told Football Insider that Man United’s hierarchy are losing patience with Amorim, and his time at the club could quickly be coming to an end.
It was no secret that the Reds turned down Amorim as Klopp’s successor, and with the United boss now under tremendous pressure at Old Trafford after just 11 months, it is crystal clear as to why.
The Reds believed that hiring him was too much of a risk, given his lack of experience in major European leagues, and also his desire to bring in a plethora of new signings to fit his playing style.
Instead of that, Slot was chosen, who adapted well to the challenges ahead of him, utilising the squad built for him by Klopp, instead of heading straight for the transfer market.
Despite knowing these things, Omar Berrada was keen to bring him aboard, a decision which has massively backfired, even despite knowing that a club looking to replace one of the Premier League’s greatest-ever managers turned him down.
Man United‘s hierarchy had the chance to learn from their biggest rivals, who have been majorly successful over the last decade.
He could become one of their shortest-reigning managers of all time.
Still, Liverpool would get the last laugh.
