Florian Wirtz has been training with Liverpool for just two weeks yet his new team-mates are already understanding precisely why the Reds shattered their transfer record to sign him.

It was last month when the Premier League champions confirmed the £116million swoop for the ex-Bayer Leverkusen star.

Wirtz is currently in Hong Kong alongside Arne Slot's first-team squad as they intensify their pre-season build-up with an Asian tour that pits them against AC Milan on Saturday before facing Yokohama F Marinos in Japan next Wednesday.

The 22-year-old Germany international missed the curtain-raiser against Preston North End last week but featured for 45 minutes in Sunday's behind-closed-doors 5-0 triumph over Championship outfit Stoke City at the AXA Training Centre.

Wirtz, deployed in the number 10 position, contributed to two goals and impressed with his crisp short passing and sharp movement, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Ryan Gravenberch has now revealed what the squad have made of their latest recruit.

"I think everyone knows Florian and also here in training he is a really good player: technical, really good vision," said Gravenberch.

"So I am really happy that he is here and I can't wait for the season to start also to play with him."

Gravenberch was already a Netherlands international team-mate of Liverpool's other summer signing from Leverkusen, £29m right-back Jeremie Frimpong, reports Liverpool Echo.

We spoke to each other and he asked me about Liverpool and everything and I gave him really good advice!

I am really excited."

Liverpool's other summer arrivals - left-back Milos Kerkez and keepers Giorgi Mamardashvili, Armin Pecsi and Freddie Woodman - are all in Hong Kong, and will now be accompanied by Hugo Ekitike following the Eintracht Frankfurt striker's completed £69m switch.

And Gravenberch has spotted a clear contrast from this summer's pre-season preparations compared to 12 months ago when Slot had recently been named Reds manager following Jurgen Klopp's departure.

"I think now everyone is here from the start," he told liverpoolfc.com.
