Alexis Mac Allister has confessed that he and his Liverpool team-mates were frustrated by the drawn-out transfer saga involving Alexander Isak before his high-profile switch.
The Swedish forward was embroiled in a summer-long battle with Newcastle, having expressed his desire to join the Premier League champions.
However, it wasn't until deadline day that he finally signed on the dotted line after Liverpool and their top-flight rivals agreed on a record-breaking £125million deal.
The 25-year-old managed just under an hour during the pulsating Champions League triumph over the Spanish side, exiting the pitch with the Reds leading 2-1 before a last-gasp winner from captain Virgil van Dijk secured three points.
Arne Slot's squad have been the talk of the town after relying on a series of late goals to secure three points during the early stages of their title defence.
Isak's acquisition was part of a spending spree on Merseyside, which was offset by several departures, including Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, Harvey Elliott, Ben Gannon Doak, Tyler Morton, Jarell Quansah and Caoimhin Kelleher.
Despite the speculation surrounding the financial outlay at Anfield, Mac Allister has voiced his excitement about welcoming Isak to the squad and is confident he will prove successful for the Reds.
