He was pipped by Paris Saint-Germain's Vitinha, Barcelona prodigy Lamine Yamal and the night's victor Ousmane Dembele.
Salah's Ballon d'Or ranking follows former Egypt international and Premier League striker Mido's assertion that his fellow countryman deserved the accolade.
