Liverpool is planning to offload Darwin Nunez after winning the race to seal a deal for Florian Wirtz's signature.

If Leverkusen gets its asking price, it would set a new transfer record for Liverpool, whose current record stands at £85M ($115M) – comprised of £64M ($86.4M) plus add-ons – paid to Benfica for Nunez in June 2022.

Liverpool has funds available following the sole signing of Federico Chiesa from Juventus last summer, but it also plans to boost its finances by selling surplus players.



Nunez, who started just eight Premier League matches under Slot this season and contributed only seven goals and seven assists in 47 games, is set to be sold this summer.

According to the Daily Mail, Liverpool is eager to offload Darwin Nunez in an attempt to finance a fresh strike force.

Arne Slot had to tackle rumors earlier in the campaign suggesting Nunez was benched to dodge paying Benfica a £4.2M ($5.6M) fee – claims he vehemently dismissed.

Regarding Nunez's future, Slot has already shared his views.
